Applied For Pip was created by simon
I applied for pip roughly beginning of Feb this year via the online form,
After receiving the thankyou screens from the DWP I have heard nothing since,
Can anybody advise on the rough waiting times? Do you get regular updates on where you are etc?
I have since started the spinal injections which I did advise would be happening on the initial form.
Understand there are backlogs just wondering on the time scales and do you if awarded anything get it back dated
from the initial phone call where you go through the basics to see if you qualify.
Kind Regards
Simon.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Simon
I'm sorry, but it is difficult for us to give you any accurate times scales. The DWP say they are prioritising new claims. The only way you can find out is to ring. You won't get sent any updates on the progress of your claim at this stage. I would hope that in the next 6 - 8 weeks you will hear about a telephone assessment. How soon this happens depends on the available assessors they have. It appears to be taking another 6 - 8 weeks for decisions to come through. Some people experience shorter waiting times and others longer.

Hi Simon,
I applied for PIP on the 14th December, got the form in the post on the 7th January and it was signed for by someone on the 10th January.
I didn`t get the initial "We`ve received your forms" text because I misread my mobile number during my initial application phone call; but that was soon rectified.
I received a text on the 29th March saying that my assessment (paper based) had been received and that I would receive a decision within 8 weeks.
I phoned DWP on the same day as the text and asked for a copy of the assessment (PA3), which arrived today (31st March). I was advised it would take up to 7 days to receive, but it took less than 2.
I think the time taken depends on the department concerned, the person involved and quite possibly the direction the wind is blowing.
Regards,
Andy
