PIP Adhd & Depression Anxiety was created by Lotus flower
Hello .
Was hoping for some advice if possible.
I've just been declined for PIP scored 0 in every area suprise suprise . I'm so upset and deflated , feel like giving up.
They said because I take my little boy to school I'm motivated, and that although my spending is out of control I've not been diagnosed with bipolar and that I work full time so I'm articulate and motivated. Wow its all worded for how they want , I got upset 4 times on the call and didn't sound tired . I've paid for membership here but dont kmo2 how to deal with it anymore . They also said I ca drive so I have no issue with cognitive impairment . It's a joke and so discriminatory towards people with mental health issues.

Hi Lotus flower,
I'm sorry to hear that you have had such a negative experience with your PIP claim.
Firstly, understand that this is not a personal attack, although it may seem so. The same thing happens to so many people.
Secondly, make sure you obtain z copy of the assessment report PA4- you can ring up for this. Dont be fobbed off.
Third and most important, don't give up!
DWP come up with so many stick phrases that they use to deny claimants benefits.
Once you have the assessment report go through it maybe with a pencil or highlighter, marking all the errors. I suspect that these will fit into several broad categories, such as cut and paste answers, rude assessor, assessor didn't listen, assessor making assumptions. Etc etc.
To take this matter you will need to write a letter, called Mandatory Reconsideration. What I suggest is you write a paragraph or two explaining you background and generally about your disability.
Then criticise the report. Use bullet points to group together the broad criticisms that you have already identified. Use one or two of the worst examples to illustrate your case. Don’t nit pick every thing that's wrong as the DWP decision maker will lose interest and won't see the issues you have.
Then you can go through each descriptor and state specifically what points you should get. Give examples. You may find the Members guides helpful, to give you more ideas.
The MR letter needs to get sent in within a month. Include medical evidence, you might have sent it in before, but it was clearly ignored so resend and say why!
A statement from friends or relatives who can describe the difficulties you have is often helpful too.
I know at this point you will be feeling despondent and rejected, and cheap. Oh yes very cheap, because DWP won't have to pay you because you are thinking of giving up your claim DWP like cheap people.
But you are not cheap, and there is no reason to be cheap, go on, try and make yourself as expensive as possible! Continue with your claim, and keep trying until you gain the money that rightfully reflects your status as a worthy disabled person. All the B&W members are reading this post willing you on, many if the members have been in a very similar position to you.
Claiming benefits is like the dentist. I certainly don't like going to the dentist, but nor do I like toothache! But once I get past the hassle and fear of getting to the dentist. Yes it's not at all pleasant but hey when the toothache goes it's fantastic.
So...please do not give up. You CAN do this. You don't want to be cheap!
Good luck.
Let us know how you get on.
I hope this helps.
