Pip review reduced award. was created by Dale
Hello i am hoping that some of you lovely people can give me some advice. I've been on pip with enhanced for both living and mobility for about 7 years due to severe long term mental health problems and numerous severe health conditions and after my review and medical assessment my motabilty has been reduced to standard but i Still get enhanced for Daily living. I've had 2 motorbilty car's which has given me great help getting out and about otherwise i would be housebound due to social phobia, panic attacks etc. I was awarded 10 points for mobility ( unable to walk further than 50 metres) but nothing for planning and following a journey even though the health professionals have acknowledged that i always need a family member with me to help calm me down and try and reduce my panic attacks ( I am safe to drive, 30 years no points, no accidents etc). I was previously awarded 17 points for Daily living and 14 for mobility but this time only 13 for living and 10 mobility. I am thinking of doing a mandatory reconsideration because i feel that my mental health problems have not been taken into consideration, but i am extremely worried that my payments will stop whilst I do the process or i might even lose all of my pip. What can you please advise?
Kind regards

Hi Dale
Only you can decide whether you want to put in for a mandatory reconsideration, but the DWP should be showing that your mental health has improved if your award has been reduced. It doesn't sound as if it has - so you should be arguing along those lines and reiterating the planning a journey issue.
Is your award at risk? It has already been reduced. Challenging it through a Mandatory Reconsideration is unlikely to reduce it further. You could win, or your award could be unchanged in which case you might want to appeal. I have only ever heard of two cases where a claimant's award was reduced at Mandatory Reconsideration and they were expectations and unusual cases.
Hope that helps. You can find details about how to put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration in our Guide to PIP Appeals.
