Universal credit sanction after compliance phone call

My daughter had a compliance call asking for bank statements for 2 of her bank accounts.Rhus came out of the blue.

She was given 2 weeks to submit them but the bank will take longer to produce them.

Can she submit them late on the grounds of mental health problems (which Is why she was off work sick).

On the sale of her home she moved into a flat with her baby and put a lump sum into a trust for her baby daughter. This was on my request because I had borrowed my dad a large amount of money which she wanted to pay me back with from the proceeds. I had sent her an email showing statements of when I had given her the money an requesting that I wanted the money he to be put in trust for my grand daughter instead of her paying me back.

This account still has the money in for my grand daughter. Perhaps I am naive but this was my money and I didn’t think this was anyone else’s concern.

Will this now cause her problems?

When the statements are received does she send a letter explaining this and will this trust money be assumed as hers or her daughters?

She has built up. Lot of debt the last few months with no wages taking care of her baby and at no time did she take or use any of the money In her daughters trust account,

Any advice at all would be very much appreciated on how to proceed and the likely outcome.

Very very stressed.

Hi debslosjoe

It would depend on the amount of money we are talking about, but anything over £6k will be taken into account, anything over £16k will cancel UC claim.

We would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Organisation who will be able to take all your daughters circumstances into consideration; advicelocal.uk
