PIP review query was created by KPPurple
Hi
It’s been a while since I was last on the forum, it’s been updated. The new forum looks great - thanks for the mods for working on this.
I was just wanting some advice, my PIP review isn’t to Oct 23 (but will probably be issued 3 months prior to this date). I have a visual impairment and a cataract.
My visual acuity has improved from the last assessment (albeit only one line more!)I still meet the criteria for being visually impaired. Also, the help and support I require won’t have changed.
Would it be a good idea to tell them of visual acuity change or wait until review? As I say the help and support I need hasn’t changed.
I am dreading the review assessment and worry they’ll take it off me. Saying that my vision has improved and therefore I don’t need pip.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi KPPurple
Nice to see you.
Regarding your question - has your sight improved against the criteria you are assessed for to be awarded PIP? You know where you were awarded points and you should look back at the report and see if there would be any difference. Just saying that your sight has improved - when it sounds as if you have had a small change - could be open to being misinterpreted if you don't word it correctly. Yes, the DWP want to know if there is an improvement if it would make a difference to what you would be awarded. If not - it can wait.

Hi BIS
Thank you for your response.
It’s been a small change to my visual acuity and it wouldn’t make a difference to my award. In that regards to mobility I continue to struggle in low light and have to use a long cane for mobility.
With regards to daily living my vision is still blurry, colour contrast is an issue and depth perception.
Would it be better to report it as a small change at review? I’ll have report from my rehabiltion worker, who will emphasis while there’s been a small change of visual acuity. My symptoms related to my eye condition hasn’t changed.
Does that sense?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi KPPurple
It's up to you, but it doesn't sound as if you have anything to report to them at the current time and I would wait until a review. At that point make sure that you highlight no change in symptoms and no improvement in what you can do in terms of the PIP criteria. Reading one extra line - isn't going to help with other issues.
