UC UC50 & LCW for a 20yr old with Learning Disabilities was created by Clarebear
Hi everyone
My daughter is 20. She has been in receipt of DLA/PIP at highest rates for both components since she was 5. She attended a special needs school until after her 19th birthday & now goes to a SEN base at a local college. She has Learning Disability, OCD, Tourettes, Sensory Proprioception, Severs Disease, Global Complex Neurodevelopment Disorder, Chronic Anxiety & Self Harms. She is on the 1st Centile for learning & the 2nd Centile for Communication.
I'm her appointee & I put in a claim to UC for her after her 20th birthday. I've provided lots of information to them including a copy of her EHCP which details her assessments done by Ed Psychs, Physios & Paediatrician. They want her to do a UC50 & which I will complete. However, I read somewhere that this may not be needed for someone in my daughter's situation.
Any advice is appreciated & gratefully received.
Thank you
Clare

Hi Clarebear
In order for a claim to be processed - as far as I am aware a claim form will still need to be completed which is why one has been sent to you.

Hi Clarebear
My daughter is similar age and I have had to submit the UC50 form for her (still awaiting a call to have the face to face assessment which usually is required, having submitted the form in March). However my daughter is no longer at College (she couldn't cope with it) so we are in a different situation. I know there are special rules for people in education who have limited capability for work - I can only assume you still need to submit the form and have the LCW or LCWRA confirmed.
Maybe (though I wouldn't count on it) if they have enough information from what you have sent they can award her the LCWRA without a face to face assessment but I guess they still need the form. Good luck.
