PIP Ongoing. was created by chookey
I reached my retirement age of 66 in February. I had previously been awarded standard daily living and enhanced mobility.
This was originally due to be reviewed this September.
Received a letter this morning saying my PIP is now ongoing and they won't need to speak to me again till January 2030. I was very surprised by this as I thought this only applied to those receiving enhanced for both.
Just thought this may be of interest to members who are in a similar position as myself.

Hi Chookey
Thanks for letting us know. I have heard of several other people who have already received that letter and they didn't have enhanced either.

Hi Chookey and congratulations!
I am not in exactly the same position as you but it is broadly similar. I am below pension age and upon 'migration' to PIP from DLA a few years ago I was turned down for PIP by the DWP. I subsequently appealed and the Tribunal awarded me both PIP daily living and mobility components both at the standard rate (or in the Tribunal jargon "It is inappropriate to fix a term.") and this was then confirmed by The DWP. Many people think you have to receive the enhanced rates of both components to be considered for an ongoing award but this is not the case. I did once read the criteria for an ongoing award and there was nothing there that said you HAD to receive the enhanced rates to be considered for an ongoing award! I think the misunderstanding arose because when the decision to allow an ongoing award was first reported in the media this possibility wasn't mentioned much, if at all.
I hope BIS and you mentioning this - and now also me too - may clarify this issue for other PIP claimants who may also be entitled to an ongoing award.
Kind regards
Mr B

Hi Chookey,
Snap! I am in exactly the same poistion as yourself. I reached state pension age in February of this year. I was on standard daily living and enhanced mobility.
I had a reveiew in the autumn of last year and my award remains the same for what is now an ongoing award.
Being past state pension age before an award expires, is, as far as I am aware, one of qualifying criteria to get an ongoing award.
This was stated by Amber Rudd some time ago in The House of Commons and I used her statement to add weight to my case.
I hope this makes sense.
Regards,
Phrank.

I received and ongoing award for PIP in 2019. It stated they would contact me again around 2029 to see if I needed any further support other than the enhanced mobility I am currently on. This award came a year before I retired but I believe it was mainly awarded as my condition was proven to be permanent and that no improvement was anticipated.
