Received reminder letter to hand in PIP Review form but it's not due yet was created by mumsgirl
I've just received a letter reminding me to send in my PIP review form (I certainly hadn't forgot, that's for sure! ). Im distressed and struggling to fill it in so asked for an extention. I was given the extension and I still have 3 weeks to send it in. I asked for the persons name at the time and she said she would update my file. I have been trying the past hour to get hold of them - I got kept holding for an hour then cut off. The reminder letter said I have to hand it in by the original date. Is it 'normal' to get sent reminder letters like this or has she not put the extension in my file?

Hi mumsgirl
I suspect it is just a standard letter that has been sent out to you, but you need to ring the DWP to check that you have the extension. You don't need to speak to a specific person - when you get through ask them to look on the system.

Even when an extension has been given, when the reminder letter is sent out it always has the original return date on it. When you phone up to request an extension the call handler will set a new return date on the computer system but the original date will still be printed on any reminder letter (or on a text reminder, if one is sent).

Thank you. I phoned (had to wait 68 mins!) and he said I do have the extension and that its just a standard letter that automatically gets sent out (to upset people no doubt lol!)

The exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I managed to get through to PIP by phone after a little more than half an hour (this was midday).
The woman I spoke with confirmed the extension and explained that the reminder letter is system generated.
I took her name and the office she’s located at and added them to my file. I’ll include all this information in my covering letter. (I also recorded the conversation using the ‘phone memo’ app).
I would definitely persevere in contacting them simply for your own peace of mind, but odds are it’s just the system grinding out.
All the best.

Hello mumsgirl
Ditto, I had the same thing happen to me, as you say it can be very distressing and I think that the 'Powers that be' really can't comprehend how the 'System generated standard letters' can cause so much distress.
I'm glad you were able to confirm your extension and wish you well with your PIP review.
