Need help with missing info on medical reports from GPs was created by fullyfledged
Hi all,
This is my first time applying for PIP and I'm trying to get everything ready before actually requesting the PIP form - it's taken me well over a month to get to this point where I was able to request the relevant medical information from my GP - to make sure I get dates right on the PIP form etc and ensure I've got proof of what I'm claiming for.
When I looked at this medical report I realised that they've not included anything to do with 2 of my main problems - not the diagnosis' nor the ongoing treatments I've been having a hospitals and NHS clinics for the last 8 years.
The nature of my problems make it very difficult to be able to go back to my GPs or to remain calm during telephone calls.
What do I do now to get that medical information?
Do I try and contact my GPs again or do I contact the hospitals and clinics that treat(ed) me for these problems directly and ask for the records from them?
I'm at a complete loss and really struggling due to my problems now.
Thank you, I really appreciate it

Hi fullyfledged
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
You cn make a Subject Access request (SAR), you have to put it in writing and give the request to the reception; ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/your-right-...copies-of-your-data/
Remember when you ask for a SAR you will receive a lot of information, don'tsend everything you receive to PIP you need to be selective and only send copies of information that will help your cause.

Hello Fullfledged.
May I ask if your GP practice has Patient 'Online Access'?
My GP practice uses a system called SystemOnline, which allows me to reorder repeat prescriptions, book appointments (Pre-pandemic) access prescribing history, patient records and summary patient record. you are entitled to access your own medical records held by your GP/Medical Practice at no extra cost, subject to the requirements of your practice to do so.
Going forward , I know it's not a specific GP report as such, but It is a very useful source of corroborating information and supporting documentation that claimants are/have been in contact with their GP/nurse/health practitioner about their ongoing health issues etc. Also, it is possible to provide a history of medications that may have been prescribed as well as any referrals made to other specialists.
If you choose to access your medical information in this way, a word of caution, CHECK THOROUGHLY FOR ACCURACY and remove any irrelevant or inaccurate information before using it. Hope this might be of some help, Good luck.
