Hi I’m just wondering what to think of today’s phone call.
I did a change of circumstances form that was submitted in end March. I haven’t heard anything from PIP yet at all. Not even confirmation of receipt. (Not sure if they do that?)

My query is, I had an unexpected telephone call off a mobile number today from a disability assessor from Capita? She stated she wanted to ask me something and then said she doesn’t want to put me through an assessment process as my case is very complex and she said it wouldn’t be fair on me. She wanted to check one thing with me about my current medical situation. As I spoke more she decide to ask some daily living and mobility questions ( pretty much all the criteria) which took the call to about 45 minutes.

She said she was going to write her bits up ASAP and do her best for me and come across very empathetic in my situation l

Is this normal now with covid? I mean I feel a weight has been lifted in a sense that this part is over but also don’t want to have false hope.
I had my form filled by Fightback with medical note of 2 years as recommended.
I feel like this could be the most supportive experience I’ve had judging by today’s unexpected call.
wondering if this situation is normal? Or a positive?

thanks for your time

Hi charchar12

We have heard of this happening to fellow forum members on the forum.

For an assessment you should be given 7 days notice, you may want to contact the DWP and ask for a copy of the assessors report to see what the assessor has written about you before a decision is made.

If you are quick and get a copy of the report, go through the report with a highlighter and highlight any inaccuracies, you then have the chance of contacting the decision maker before a decision has been made pointing out the inaccuracies.

Hi charchar12,

It doesn't sound right to me. Something doesn't click.

If I were you, I would phone Capita and ask for an explanation.

To pretend they are 'just phoning to check ONE THING', and then to spin it out for 45 minutes asking searching questions about the information you've written regarding the daily living questions, is - to me, utterly deceitful - and can't possibly be in Capita's employee code of practiice handbook ( if there is such a thing).

Good luck.

Regards,

Phrank.

Thanks for replying.
I didn’t have a letter to say I was having an assessment. It was just a random call she said she wasn’t going to do it as she left my case didn’t need it and felt it urgent to get done? Kinda hoped this sounded positive.
It’s a mobile number so I guess there is no track. How long do you think I should wait to ask for the report?
Thanks

Hi charchar12

Leave it 48 hrs from the phone call and ring the DWP. As you didn't have an actual assessment - the assessors report will be a PA3. If they think you did have an assessment from that one phone call it would be a PA4.
