Logic does not play any part in DWP decision making. I have several Chronic degenerative conditions and have had 2 DLA Awards, and am on my 3rd PIP Award. I think (and I have no proof of this, just my surmising), that people who have received PIP Enhanced both for 10 years, will be given a future, longer term award, * me next time fingers crossed*..

Hi Pc pilot
I was reassessed in April this year. I had a really helpful lady who did my telephone interview, and she gave me points that led to enhanced/enhanced and recommended no review as my condition was stable or would deteriorate. She actually wrote what we discussed verbatim.
Unfortunately the decision maker didn’t agree with the latter, and gave me 2 years instead, stating that I was having inputs that could have produced improvement. Although there was some risk, I decided to put in a Reconsideration request. I felt the risk was acceptable as I had spare points and was only requesting the award length was reviewed, although it could have gone wrong obviously, plus I had the benefit of requoting the ‘expert’
9 weeks later I’ve just had the result of this and it’s been changed to an ongoing award. No phone call or explanation, but hopefully now the lighter touch system will cover me, although I understand this is unknown what it entails at present.
So hopefully on this review you may end up with this, or you feel it’s worth appealing to get it. Good luck.

Thank you for the clarification Gordon, like I said I would always bow to your tremendous expertise on all matters PIP!!
I can confirm that completion of the form is already underway (even before my initial post) given the tight deadline stated.
My post was intended to investigate why parliamentary promises (at least as I had understood them) were not being honoured as I had erroneously believed that as my conditions are degenerative and my awards are enhanced for both Mobility & Daily Living that I met the discussed criteria for being 'switched' to an 'ongoing review' by the DWP internally.
Obviously any optimism that I would not have to endure the stress of going through all of this again was misplaced and I suspect I may have further confused matters in my post by mixing the two aspects involved here:
1. Whether or not my individual claim circumstances should more appropriately reflect an 'Onging Award'.
2. What such an 'Ongoing Award' is to involve so far as the 'Light Touch Review' process is concerned.
I believe what you are suggesting is that I am reading too much into the quoted ministerial statement, as the DWP are not in fact 'reviewing' the (original) claims of existing claimants rather they are reviewing 'reviews' and as this is my first review and, thanks to the assessor suggesting a review period, it does not therefore (at least yet) apply to my situation as my current award is not 'Ongoing'.
The discussed 'Light Touch' process (whatever that shall involve) will only emerge for the first time next year, some 10 years since PIP's initial introduction back in 2013.
I trust that I have now put the horse back to it's rightful position!

Hi Angel,
Thank you for detailing your own experiences with the review process and I so feel for the unnecessary stress and upheaval all of this must have caused you. I felt so hollowed out when completing my transfer from DLA to PIP in 2018 which crushed my confidence and made me ill.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you to receive a 'Light Touch' review next time around and I so agree that 'logic' plays no part in their decision making!

Hi MikMikMik,
Thank you for highlighting your own experiences with the DWP review processes both DLA and PIP and keep my fingers crossed that you will be rightly added to the 'Light Touch' review system for the future.
I will have to see just what is forthcoming in regards to my own (current) review
Best wishes

Hi to all,
Wanted to share an update upon my own review situation in the hopes that it is helpful to other members going through the awful PIP Review process.
Firstly, I would like to thank Gordon for his accurate clarification of what appears to have been the DWP's sequence of events (at least in my case). Indeed, as Gordon had suggested, the subsequent review from the initial application has indeed offered the opportunity for DWP to consider putting matters on an 'ongoing' basis.
Today, I am relieved to report that I received my award review letter from the DWP confirming that both Daily Living and Mobility would continue at the Enhanced rate with the award granted on an 'Ongoing' basis with a review after October 2032 some 10 years hence much as Gordon had predicted!
I would therefore urge patience to anybody awarded both components of PIP at the enhanced rate but subject to review after a time limited period and that the subsequent review can still determine the award of an ongoing award as in my case.
As for me, I can finally relax and stop worrying about these regular reviews with all of the stress and anxiety along with the associated affects upon my health that have been a hallmark of PIP ever since the 'invitation' to transfer from DLA was received in 2018.
Best wishes to all!!
