PIP review form recieved. was created by badger
Hi Everyone,
I'm a newcomer to the forum but have been on the newsletter for a few years, I thought it the best time to join now that I have a PIP review and have 3 weeks to get it back from the date of receipt.
I applied at a time (the end of 2020) when I was about to start Immunotherapy treatment for my Liver, but I also suffer really bad social anxiety, and depression due to complete loneliness for the last 5 years, I keep no friends due to anxiety as I've been burgled and had things stolen in every property I've rented - and I don't really have any family left, what I do have; keep to themselves too - thanks to Facebook addictions et;al! - which I don't bother with - too many Keyboard Warriors and I've been abused on FB before in front of my 200+ friends, so I killed the account years back and don't bother with any social media.
I also suffer bad anxiety in the workplace, after bad experiences trying to work with both physical and mental health problems at PCworld and Sky (such as : Liver Disease, Arthritis in hands, varicose vein pain in legs, multiple medication addictions that affect both my physical and mental state, panic attacks would make me vomit in the loo every morning!! and this is after taking my meds! so they null effect...making me feel even worse.)
I've even tried volunteering to try and rebuild my confidence and beat my anxiety and try to get back to working (so even on the sick I still try to better myself)...and I've found that I'm not reliable at all, as I am socially awkward, shy, but also very bad-tempered and paranoid (from the meds and trauma suffered as a child/teenager) and get myself very upset at the slightest thing, I've lost 2 jobs because of this and my physical health problems making me feel poorly - bringing on my anxiety (knock-on effects). ive been through 3 Volunteer roles in 14 months, so I'm NOT reliable at all.
Things is, I've now since completed the Immunotherapy for the Liver successfully (3rd attempt), so the Liver Disease is gone (after 20 years) but some damage is done, and the specialist said it would take 7 years for every cell in the liver to re-generate, and only then would they know the true state of my liver - regardless I still feel like crap every morning from that and the medications I'm on which have nothing to do with the liver - currently I'm on the sick for medication addiction and having severe anxiety & depression, to the point i find it difficult to get along socially.
I did the "free PIP test" where I scored 9 on Standard Component (a pass), then 4 on mobility (a loss) but it seems to be outdated compared to the form ive got?
I must have scored 8-11 on both last time, I didn't even have a phone call or interview last time due to the overwhelming evidence I had, the thing is people who helped me then, arent available now, and the hospital is literally 'out of the picture' all-together now (apart from yearly tests), as with the cost of living booming as it is I can barely survive on what I get, I still have monthly appointments to attend and I get counseling that I have to attend.
any advice is greatly appreciated.
thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Badger
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
PIP is not awarded because of the condition but rather the limitations that result and prevent a claimant from completing a range of everyday activities.
Read about the reliability element in the guide - if you cannot do something:
• Safely – in a fashion that is unlikely to cause harm to themselves or to another person.
• To a necessary and acceptable standard – given the nature of the activity.
• Repeatedly – as often as is reasonably required.
• In a reasonable time period – no more than twice as long as a person without a physical or mental health condition would take to carry out the activity.
then you should not be considered able to do the activity.
The fact that you can’t do the activity safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly or in a reasonable time, means you can’t do it at all for the purposes of the descriptors.
PIP isn't based on specific conditions, it is based on how the symptoms you have affect your daily living and your mobility as per the specific PIP criteria.
You need to show that you are affected for the majority of the time. So are you in pain for four out of seven days and what does that pain affect you from doing? Does it affect your mobility or your ability to cook, dress yourself etc. The same applies for your depression, you need to look at each question and state what impact it has.
We have a very comprehensive PIP guide. If you look through that, it will give you some idea of how you might answer questions.

If your appointments are medical you may be able to claim travel expenses. The scheme never seems to be advertised but is available to people with low incomes or means-tested benefits. The following link gives the information
