Replied by Keith C on topic Cost of livng payment received today.
I've been on "Contribution Based" ESA since June 2014.
Or as I like to call it "the wrong ESA"**
This bars me from getting the payment (despite having not worked for 8 years)
I'm desperately hoping I'll get it later as I get Child Tax Credits, but knowing my luck...
** The wrong ESA because it doesn't qualify for umpteen other benefits, not because I believe I have been incorrectly assigned.
Although the system is wholly unfair.
Haven't worked, no "real" NI paid since 2014, zero savings, have debt.

Hi Keith C
Claimants in receipt of contribution based benefits can it they are entitled claim means tested benefits as a top up.
I frequently come across claimants who claim both IR ESA and CB ESA.
You can check your benefit entitlement by using an online benefit checker; gov.uk/benefits-calculators or contact their local Welfare Rights Organisation; advicelocal.uk .
