PIP review decision was created by organic
Hello,
I had my PIP review decision letter today.
I got the same award as last time despite a deterioration in my condition.
It was a paper based review.
What is the name of the report I need to request?
The DM states as my needs are continuing they would award PIP for a longer time than last time. Yet the award length is for the same length as the previous award. Am I able to challenge the award length based on what looks like a mistake by the DM?
Thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Organic
It's a PA3 report (when it's a paper-based decision). You can challenge the length of the award - but be aware they rarely change them. (That doesn't mean you shouldn't try). Award lengths have become shorter, which obviously increases the stress on everyone.

Hi Bis,
Thanks for your response.
I contacted the DWP to request the PA3 report. They informed me there isn't a written copy. I was put through to a Case Manager. Apparently I was re-awarded PIP based on the evidence I submitted. They have re-awarded my previous award for three years.
The Case Manager said there is over a 12 month wait for reviews in some cases due to COVID. Where there has been no change and sufficient evidence is submitted the DWP can simply re-award PIP.
Does that sound right?
I appreciate your help.

Hi organic
Yes, it does sound right. I have heard of quite a few people being told no report was completed. I think they would be in trouble if someone had their award downgraded because there should be a paper trail. However, you have been one of the 'lucky' ones who hasn't had to go through the assessment and had a paper-based decision. You can still write a mandatory reconsideration if you want to challenge the length of the award, but you would run the risk of them downgrading or losing the award altogether.

Hi BIS, Organic does also mention 'despite deterioration'. So my question is, how can he or she know if they should have had sufficient extra points to increase their award, irrespective of length, if no PA3 was completed? seems like a possible typical covert DWP short-selling maybe here....

Hi Bis,
I wrote to them asking them to correct their mistake regarding the award length. I said I would like them to do this before I ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration.
There is no risk to my award with me doing this is there?
Thanks.
