Pip medical assessment help please was created by Leila
Hi all I am hoping someone might be able to possible help with some questions I have regarding my recent medical assessment report I have recently had my pip medical assessment and received the report back at this current moment I am getting low rate DLA, since receiving the report there’s a number of question I have where I have searched high and low for the meaning for so hoping someone might know here? The first one is in the report MOD is mentioned it doesn’t state what this abbreviation or what this word means again like I said i have searched high and low for the meaning of this word and can’t find anything. Also I’ve been getting dla for maybe 9 years now and was given indefinitely when I first applied I had two children who was young toddlers I have now got a 3 year old aswell as my other two who are now aged 14 and 12 in the report they mention my older two once in the description of me but my 3 year old is mentioned on every single justification in the report and how we have no known social support concerns and that’s why I am able to do things I.e take my medication for my MH and pain are they allowed to do that I mentioned that my sister is a carer for my daughter and she is the main point of contact for teachers doctors etc there’s a doctors report in there also which states that I’ve suffered with MH all my adult life im now 33 yet the assessor stated that my MH is unremarkable but yet at the end of the report when they are asked if I would need additional support to comply with future claim processes due to mental, intellectual or cognitive impairment she ticks yes with contradicts her saying my MH is remarkable. I hoping some one could help with these questions it would be very appreciated thank you sorry for the long post

Hi Leila

Don't apologise for the length of your post - we have many that are much longer.

I have tried to track down what MOD means in this context but can't find it anywhere.

The assessor's report - is their 'opinion', and they will write what they think is relevant, but it doesn't mean that you have to agree with it. Yes, they can keep mentioning your three-year-old if they think it is relevant. I am not an assessor, and I don't know you, but I don't think that the assessor was saying that there is nothing wrong with your mental health; I think she was saying there was nothing extraordinary about your difficulties- hence the use of the term 'unremarkable'. So in my view, the assessor wasn't contradicting - she acknowledged that you need support.

Now that's my interpretation, and I could be wrong. You could ring the DWP and ask someone to explain it - or you can wait until you see your decision letter.

Hello Leila

For clarification, if you can, in what context is the MOD reference you refer to? Sometimes MO refers to 'Mode Of' but not sure if that's of any help in your situation. I'm sure someone on the forum will have come across it and have an answer for you.

Hi SUE CC

The only MOD I know is Ministry of Defence, as you say in what context is the word MOD referenced.

I’m only guessing here do not sure how much help it may be. Could it possibly mean mode of delivery or method of delivery? Could it possibly be referring to the way any medication is taken/given or the way any additional help or self help which may he needed is given? Or something similar?
