Statements for PIP Tribunal was created by Mrs Flute
Hello,
I submitted a claim to Tribunal regarding PIP.
I have MS and have various issues.
I’ve asked if my husband can also attend - he’s happy to do so - but they have sent him a letter asking for a medical report and any other evidence to support my claim.
Am i right in thinking that a written statement from him outlining my day to day problems would be ok? He’s not convinced that it will. He’s the person who sees at first hand what I can and can’t do and what happens if I attempt something I shouldn’t do.
I have evidence from my MS nurses and GP too.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Mrs Flute
Yes, a letter from your husband detailing how you manage the various PIP activities - will be great. I hope that neither of you will feel disheartened by this. These types of letters can be very helpful. After all, no one observes more about how someone manages than a spouse or partner. He should describe both what he observes from your physical and mental struggles. If he thinks you need more help than you have - he should say so. Also, tell him to include a paragraph on the effect your condition has had on him or your family.

Have they asked for a medical report (very unusual) or your medical records (much more likely)?
Even though the request has gone to your husband this does not preclude him from attending and giving personal testimony on your problems.
Make sure he understands the PIP criteria unless h can link your problems back to the Descriptors then he won't help you score points.
