IB ESA and House Equity from sale disregard was created by robin.ord14@btinternet.com
Hi
I know released equity from a house sale is disregarded for 6 months if using it for another house purchase and possibly longer if required.
My question is how do you request and extension to the initial 6 months to another 6 months, due to the crazy housing market of late and pretty much everything suitable having gone quickly for well over the asking price, with many unsuccessful offers.
Is there a way to phrase the request that would be more advantageous to obtain the 6 month extension to the original 6 month disregard.
Thank you
Robin.

Hi Robin

I don’t have the answer for this I’m afraid but I am hoping someone in the forum may have been through similar and can offer advice.

Thinking out loud i would probably ask estate agents to provide evidence of viewings, offers made, etc and their positive view that you are seriously looking. I am not sure this is something they would do but you could certainly request email confirmation of viewing appointments.
Regards
Pete

Hi robin

You need to change your forum name. At the moment your email address is showing and this is open for anyone to see on the internet. Follow the link on how to do this benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

You raise an interesting question, unfortunately your question is outside the remit of the forum.
