Letters from DWP dated 2 weeks earlier than recieved

Hello everyone,
Having just gone through 3 dealings with pip and reading on here I believe that the DWP are holding on to letters for around 2 weeks in a delaying tactic aimed to discourage and make it harder to ask for pip, mandatory reconsiderations or appeals. They demand we give evidence within a months time frame but by the time we actually get these letters half of that month has gone.
Has any one else noticed this? I would like to take this further, as if we are all experiencing this, then it is clearly a tactic and needs bringing to the attention of the relevant to authorities.
I am more than happy to write to my mp about this if I am correct in my suspicions!
Thanks to anyone in advance for any input on this subject!

Hi Lesley

I’ll leave the forum members to respond but I would just say that there have been strikes by Royal Mail staff which may be causing some disruption.

Regards
Pete

Last one we had, some time before post strikes was 11 days in arriving.
I sent a signed for letter afternoon collection, to a council recently [entirely different matter not benefits]. Second class, Derbyshire to Essex was signed for 7am the next day. Glad I didn't pay for 1st!
So it does seem that the sorting offices DWP use may be slow, perhaps it is the very volume of DWP mail going through?? or do they actually hold it back? We need a mole in the Postal Workers' Union. Anyone?

Hi Lesley,

More bad publicity for the poor, poorly DWP.

Well, there are issues with the postal service at the moment so they can be excused to some extent. However, two weeks sounds really excessive to get them from A to B.

Could Ms Truss(t) and her botched up cronies have anything to do with it? I wouldn't rule anything out with her.

In your instance, though, in my opinion writing to your MP is a sound idea. I think a follow-up phone call to let them know you have done this should buy you more time.

Let us know how you get on and good luck.

Regards,

Phrank.

Hi Lesley

I am an unpaid carer and the man I look after just received today a DWP letter dated 22nd September. However, it was an award letter and wasn't needing any action from us. I wonder if the delays are just general bureaucracy? It is also common for NHS letters not to arrive until 1-2 weeks after they are dated.

Hope things get sorted out soon.

I've been corresponding with the DWP for around 15 years.
I can confirm that before the pandemic and the current postal workers' action, letters etc from them were typically dated around 10 days before I received them - at best, around 7.
