I have a PIP award until the middle of December 2023. I know the DWP usually reassess people a year in advance although I'm aware there is a huge backlog and awards are currently being extended. I read everyone transferring from PIP to ADP in Scotland will initially automatically receive a 2 year award.
I planned to apply for mobility and other descriptors when I received the PIP reassessment now I have more understanding of my health and how these apply to the descriptors. I have 2 concerns and would be grateful of any advice, 1 is it possible to apply for the other descriptors when I'm being transferred to ADP or should I do this before? I'm reluctant to rock the boat. 2, I'm on legacy benefits and receive working tax credits, any possibility of a change in circumstances after being transferred to universal credit means I'll most probably lose my WTC transitional protection.

1. You have two choices (a) report a Change of Circumstances, this should still result in a transfer to ADP but will likely result in a full reassessment, or (b) wait until your current award ends, there will be no problem with your detailing problems with the Descriptors you have not previously scored for.
The only thing to be aware of is when any increased award will be payable from; for (a) it should be the date that you inform them of the Change, for (b) it will be the date of the new Decision.
2. Anything to do with PIP and/or ADP will not affect your current entitlement to Tax Credits.
