Thanks for your reply. Yes, it is great news. He's a bit mixed up and said that they told him his award will start from the 14th of January??

I told him to wait until he gets his letter as I'm sure he's misinterpreted something.

Thanks so much for your kind words! I just advised re the claim as if it were my own. The award length is for 4 years which will take him just a few months off state pension age.

If I were him, I'd be tempted to get my MP involved and advise of the fact that it is a non-reversable disability and will no way improve and the award should be an ongoing one..

You don't get without asking.

thank you for your replies and kind words. I would like to say thanks to everyone else who have commented on this and the ones who supported us through this ordeal.

I'd also like to say when he got he call from the DWP they said he had been given the lower mobility component and the higher daily living component.

He then got a phone call from the DWP to say that they were sorry that they'd got it wrong but he should have been told it was HIGHER for both!

The mind boggles.
