Pip Tribunal in few days - worried! was created by lauren
I dont know if its last minute nerves but I am having second thoughts about my tribunal hearing.
If I lose my tribunal will I lose my existing lower payment?
At the tribunal will they assess my whole case not just the areas I disagree with?
Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Lauren
If there was a danger of you losing your lower payment, the Tribunal Chair will tell you, and you will be given the opportunity to withdraw your appeal - in which case your current award would stand. Yes - they will look at your whole case.

Thank you for the information. I'm going through all the paperwork and feeling really stressed.
Good to know I would be notified beforehand if I didn't have a case.
Will post back afterwards.

Hi lauren
Good luck
I was at a Tribunal today where the claimant appealed against their lower award, we came out of the Tribunal with an enhanced award for both PIP components backdated to the beginning of January 2022.

Thank you, Gary. Hearing this proves that tribunals have positive outcomes. Congratulations to the claimant!

Hi lauren,
I had a tribunal today where the claimant had a few points awarded by DWp but not enough for any award. PIP was awarded for both components.
Believe in yourself. "SELL" your disabilities by explaining the struggles you have, warts and all. Yes it will be difficult and possibly embarrassing. This won't be the time to say 'oh yes I can manage...'
Tell the tribunal eg about the pain, the fact you can't wipe yourself after the toilet or the incontinence tell them how you shake and tremble with fear each time you leave the front door....whatever it is that you struggle with, don't hold back, explain, explain, explain....
You've got this. Go for it!
