esa suppport group letter queries was created by merry
hi - just recieved my esa letter saying i am in the support group after my assessment but have 2 queries if anyone can help?
1. It says this starts from 24th may but my original (pre assessment) payments started in feb 22 - this means they have only back paid the support group uplift from May and not from when I was 1st put into the assesment waiting period - is this normal?? Can i try to get the rest back dated?
2. on final page it gives breakdown of the £77 plus the £40.60 but ends with "The amounts on this page apply from 24 May 2022 to 28 November 2022" - what does this mean?? Is it saying it will stop in November even though I've only just been put into support group? Panicing!
thank you

Hi merry
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
When you apply for NS ESA your assessment period starts from when you hand your workcoach your fit note, the assessment period is for 13 weeks, if you are successful with your WCA form then your support premium £40.60 pw should be paid from the 14 week. Once you are in receipt of the support premium then your NS ESA will be ongoing until you are next re-assessed.
I would contact your local Welfare Rights Organisation who can take all your information into consideration; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk

Hi merry
ESA is an indefinite award with scheduled reassessment based on the Prognosis Date completed by the assessor in their report, so your existing ESA award continues in payment until a new Decision is made.
I would contact DWP and ask what date section means in the letter you have received.

The November date is related to the payment of the annual Christmas Bonus, it's nothing to worry about.
