Hi BIS,

Thank you for your reply. Okay, we can do that. I suppose the next question is how best to go about it. The previous award and appeal is a couple hundred pages and there isn't enough space (ever) on the form.

A) answer each question and use continuation sheets (or just answer them all on a typed up doc and reference that) from scratch and refer to evidence as necessary but in full like we did for appeal.

Or

B)use the previous appeal as a starting point for each question i.e. please refer to x in pack. And add new stuff/changes.

Or c)any other suggestions?

Rather get this in one and not have a one year long dragged out appeal process with reduced income in these times (plus motability car loss)

Hi Ayden64

There is no one way to complete it. My advice here is to make it as easy as possible for someone to understand.

Personally, I tend to write in each question box "See additional page No. X" and then type up the answer on additional sheets. In my typed answer - I always reference everything as I go along. eg. "S is unable to cook because of severe arthritis in their hands which has been ongoing since 1987 - (see letter dated 12.12.21 from Dr X, Consultant Rheumatologist). Because they currently don't have a carer or family support, they have to rely on sandwiches which means they are not getting sufficient nutrition."

I advocate referencing as you go along because otherwise, the person reading doesn't always relate additional evidence to the specific criteria. This makes it easy for them.

I would not use your previous appeal as a starting point. As I said in a previous post - as you're putting in a new claim, treat it as the first time you have applied. Assume the person reading it knows nothing, and include all the evidence you have. (of course, you will have information from that appeal which could be useful and used).

Hello Ayden64. Just remember, think PIP for Dummies when you're completing your application form. Even if you think you're dumbing down your answers, it's best to bear in mind that the person who will read and assess your application form knows nothing about you, how your medical conditions impact your health and well being on a daily basis. So, you need to literally paint them a picture using your words. Good luck and fingers crossed, you'll crack this 'In One'

Thank you everyone for your replies, it's been very helpful. Just finished gathering evidence and generating a reference. Onto the questions now!

I just realised, looking back over the DM report after our appeal that the last sentence in the report said "I will look at the award again" after x date. Sounds to me like it should have been a review.IS there any point in trying to pick this up with DWP or should we just go ahead with the new claim? Will it make a difference in any capacity? for example - a longer award period this time?

I have contacted them, unfortunately PIP2 stands as it was a short award. It's not an issue as I can paint a very nice complete picture this way. The trick is keeping it short as we are talking about the effects of so many conditions.

Hi Ayden64

I'm glad you have had confirmation about having to complete the PIP2. Be aware that PIP awards have become shorter - and so many people get shorter awards than they were expecting these days.
