Hi,
I sent in a mandatory reconsideration appeal letter to the DWP on 10th August and I'm still waiting for a reply from them. Is 3 months considered a long time to wait for their reply? Has anybody else on here waited this long for their reply?

Hi Olive
There is a backlog but it does seem to be a long time.
I would contact DWP to check that they have your MR, did you send it by recorded delivery, if you did has it been signed for at the other end, check this first before calling DWP.

Yes they do have it - I rang them a month ago and it was on their computer system.
Do you know who does the MR appeals? Do they do them in the order they are received, or do they do the easy one's first and put the harder one's to one side and do those later on?

Hi Olive
The DWP themselves do the Mandatory Reconsiderations. I don't know their system for processing them, because there is a huge variety in the amount of time that is taken to complete them. Part of this could be a shortage of DWP staff and some may be due to the differences in how much information has to be looked at.
