UC Payments stopped due to proof of living in uk?? was created by badger
Hi
I live in the North East of the UK and have claimed UC for years without issue, even making posts on my account as of April 22, I got a message in my account saying I would be contacted by this 0800 number, he did and I got him to confirm other details to be sure, and he says my payments have been suspended until i prove I live in the UK????
I had to:
1. Take a photo of both sides of my provisional driving license
2. take a pic of me holding it
3. take a pic of me at my door showing the number
4. take a picture of the street name
when I asked he said I don't know the details, it's just been "passed down" to us...
as I suffer extreme anxiety, I have done what was requested instantly, I've always lived here - they could check my docs, and chemists where I pick up scripts regularly, contact other places where I've volunteered, and also places I go to seek help with my health problems...
I have a family member who works for the government whom I do not get on with, could it be related to him?
any advice about what all this is would be appreciated.
thanks in advance

You say you have been on UC for years, did you claim during the lockdown.
Because claimants were unable to attend a JC+ office to prove their identity the rules on this were relaxed, since then the DWP has been going over the millions of claims made at this time to make sure the claimant is who they say they are.
We've had other user receive this letter and will almost certainly have other in the future, it's not something to worry about providing you comply with the request.
