Telephone assessment for PIP was created by swanny1
Long story, but my daughter asked for a review on her PIP back in July. Finally got an appointment F2F in Dartford Kent...she lives in Clacton Essex and ridiculous to expect her to travel 4hrs minimum by train to attend the assessment with her health problems. Apparently the excuse given was our nearest centre Colchester had no appointments available so the computer defaulted to the nearest centre available. Outcome is now a having a telephone assessment on the same day instead.
The reason we asked for a review is the original telephone assessment bore very little truth to the information given to the assessor.

I posted on here at the time for advice which I was grateful for and followed but alas the DWP just did not respond to our request for a mandatory reconsideration or appeal. This left us no other option but to advise DWP of change of circumstances and in the covering letter explained the full story.

My question is can we record the telephone assessment? Obviously after the original report we don't trust the procedure and the way it's open to miss-representation of the facts given over the phone.

Hi Swanny

You can ask the assessment services to record it, but you must request this ahead of time. Be warned that they might change the date of the assessment if you do so - because the assessor allocated may not agree to it being recorded, or equipment may not be available. However, even if you do this - we advise people to do their own recording. Do not say that you are doing this but in the privacy of your own home, there is nothing to stop you from doing this.
