hi not sure if its okay to ask for help with this here ,so feel free to delete if required

i heard there's a scheme for a free replacement boiler available ,but had no luck finding it

tried google but just seem to find what turn out to be adverts and end up filling "do i qualify" online forms only to end up confused and frustrated

any help appreciated

im 65 next month and receive esa in the support group and full pip ,have a blue badge and am on the vulnerable list with british gas ,my wife receives carers allowance for me

our boiler started leaking last thursday and despite me being on their "vulnerable"list it took them 3 visits over 3 days left without heating or hot water to get it working again

"o" rings and a manifold apparently

the gas guy told me the boiler ,its a ideal combi about 12 years old is
1 a rubbish unit
2 on its way out
3 and is unlikely to last and wont survive taking apart to repair if it goes wrong again

so im not filled with confidence over hearing this and as ive been paying british gas £26 a month home care and had no one over the door in the last 4 years ,and they now tell me it won't be repairable next time ,

i dont feel ive had either good service or good value so am looking at finding a replacement boiler for when or before it packs in again ,and if i qualify for any assistance

if some kind soul could point me in the right direction id be most grateful

thanks to all or any that can help

Hi bonniedog

I'm sorry you have been having a tough time. Your question is outside the scope of this forum.

I googled ' free government boiler scheme and a lot of sites come up. Sorry, I can't recommend any but you can read the details from Which how to reply and they are a reliable source www.which.co.uk/reviews/boilers/article/...-boiler-a1OOC7R27kYS

Hope you manage to get some help.

Hi bonniedog

I would contact NEA for advice, National Energy Action (NEA) - the national fuel poverty charity, working to ensure that everyone in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is warm and safe at home.

Hi bonniedog,
Local advice centres can often access grants. It may be worthwhile contacting eg CAB to see what grants could be available.
