PIP renewal was created by MrFibro
Hi to all,
Obviously the 12 month PIP extension isn't happening yet! But for me after a 15 month wait it is, as i have just received notification of my re-view assessment via telephone.
Can someone please give me some guidence on postponing my pip telephone assessment date, to a later date.
The reason being is that I have recently been diagnosed with a new illness,(which has been going on for over 5 months that I am aware of).
And I need to gather more evidence ie more additional medical evidence, from my GP, hospital etc, so the PIP HCP has this before an assessment would take place. Otherwise then not having this new evidence would deem me at a disadvantage at my phone review, and after when he/ she makes their decision on my pip continuity.
Bear in mind also the letter they sent out has been also held back due to postal strikes after it was sent out to me, meaning i have less time to react gathering more additional support.
What do i do phone PIP up DWP or Capita and explain to them???
Regards.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Pauljarvis
You can ring Capita and change the date. However, be aware that you can only do this once, and the next date they offer you, you will have to take part in it, or you will put your claim at risk. The next date they offer you will not necessarily be weeks or months away. They don't generally make it a long time away simply because many claimants struggle to collect additional medical evidence. I'm not being insensitive to your dilemma - just warning you what the attitude might be when you ring and try to get a new date.

Hi Bis,
I phoned up the PIP provider for my region, and the call handler said that a new date could be made, as you said only once.
So my pip review is on a certain date, and the call handler said, that they can only look 2 weeks in advance on their screens to re-book. And that they are allowed to give a claimant up to 2 and a half weeks extension.
Because of my review date this means i;d only be getting an extra say 6 days extension.
The call handler did give me some good advice, and that is i can phone pip up again say a day before my re-assessment ( pip review) and cancel it and get an extension then. That means My review date should be put back at least 2 extra weeks.
So that's what i'm going to do, as to be honest the letter came a bit sudden i mean postage wise and due to postal strikes it cost me time.
So it will now give me more time to get my paper work all revised and in place for my review. and time to collect, and collate and send of updated medical evidence / support to PIP and also to the DWP too for their reference.
So to all subscribers on here and not on here, bear in mind that you can have an extension of up to 2.5 weeks, BUT only Once.
I did explain to the PIP call handler my reasons for wanting to re-book for a later date.
I know it may seem putting off the inevitable, but at least i can get a bit more prepared for that dreaded day.
Best regards to all.
