Hi louise

I believe that Tax Credit claimants will be in the first phase of managed migration, but this may change when it is rolled out.

Hi louise

There are no clear messages coming from the DWP, I have attended a few of their meetings and all we are told is that they are testing and learning, so at the present we have to wait.

Hi Mr B

I think the DWP would argue against the words 'forced migration'. DWP were hoping to migrate all legagcy claimants over to UC by the end of 2024.

Personally, I do not think this is a realistic time frame but it would depend on what they have learnt through the phases.

I am still on legacy benefits, Support Group ESA IR. That is the only benefit I get. How do I know if I will be better off on UC ? Will I still get the COL payments and 10% interest rate mentioned in today's budget ?

Hi Benson

For claimants in receipt of IR ESA and no pip then they are usually better off ....... if ........ they are able to claim LCWRA.

If you are in the support group of ESA then when you apply for UC you should ........ go straight on to UC LCWRA but it does not always happen. I came across someone this week who should have been placed in the LCWRA group when they moved to UC but it did not happen.

You can check you entitlement on a benefits calculator: gov.uk/benefits-calculators . before you make a decision to claim UC seek guidance from a Welfare Rights Organisation; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk

Hi Gary

Thank you for your reply. Just to clarify though that my question relates to a change in the timetable for migrating ESA IR claimants to Universal Credit, this was announced during the Autumn Statement in the Commons today. Angel also mentioned this in her original post, and I quote it below:

"5.15 Employment and Support Allowance: delay managed move - The government is pushing back the managed migration of claimants on income-related Employment and Support Allowance (with the exception of those receiving Child Tax Credit) to UC to 2028. Employment and Support Allowance claimants are still able to make a claim for UC if they believe that
they will be better off, and this will not affect the managed migration of other legacy benefits onto UC."

You will see that the Government have pushed the date back for the managed migration of most ESA IR claimants to 2018. My question is simply Is 2018 the new END date for ESA IR to UC migration or is it the new START date for the migration process? ESA IR managed migration to UC was intended to end, along, with all other legacy benefits, in 2014.

There is also a news article on this (incidentally also referring to "forced migration!") on the forum.

I am hoping someone may be able to answer my specific question.

Thanks again

Mr B
