New style ESA & UC together help please was created by Kazyjacko
Hi I’m unsure what I have done in the past but I think I should be claiming UC alongside NS ESA I am in support group does anyone know if there is anything extra to be claimed I’ve just completed a claim form which I had done two years ago but they say I cancelled it the next day (Don’t remember as unwell mentally) I haven’t received any COL apart from a £150 I don’t want to sound beggy
I should ask for help CAB is that the best option ? Missed 2 years now maybe more. Thank you

Hi Kazyjacko
You can claim UC along with NS ESA especially if you need to claim the Housing Element.
I would advise you to seek help and advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk

I have no housing element at all apart from council tax full benefit
Chatted online to citizens advice who claimed I’d be paid £189 p/month UC alongside new style esa which means I’ve missed out for past 3 years
Got appointment to prove I’m me tomorrow quite anxious unprepared and agitated about the whole trip and I’ll have to do it alone

Hi Kazyjacko
As you are in receipt of Council Tax Support, I would take a letter from your local authority which shows how they have worked out your Council Tax Support.
Good luck for tomorrow, let us know how you get on.

I went for appointment to verify who I am, and to be booked another appointment to agree commitments ?? With a work coach - these both sound quite controlling and conumistic to me I’m not sure I will go further
She did say my new style esa will exhaust and il have to claim then, does anyone know the rules and if it will expire pls

Hi Kazyjacko
NS ESA lasts for one year, if during that time you complete a WCA form and you are placed in the LCWRA/Support group, then NS ESA is indefinite, until you are next reassessed and either found fit for work or placed in the LCW group.
