New disability while waiting for PIP review was created by Lipbalmaddict
Hi, I currently receive PIP enhanced rate for daily living but nothing for mobility as I try to stay active with fibromyalgia and Joint Hypermobility syndrome because gentle movement is better that staying still for me. I have been doing some permitted work with dogs with my ESA. It’s men great for my mental health which is the main reason I get PIP. In May I had a number of odd falls and was immediately I couldn’t work unsupervised. 7 months on I’m undiagnosed but most likely have early onset Parkinson’s disease. The confirmation is expected this week and I’ve been on levadopa since June with a marked improvement in my symptoms. I’m still not allowed to walk without supervision. I phoned the DWP to ask how this can be added to the current review as obviously my mobility has completely changed, I’m no longer independent and I was given some vague advice about submitting a new claim rather then expanding on the review so I’m pretty stumped. If I submit a brand new claim will I lose my current award which they’ve had the review for, for 11 months now. I’ve no idea what to do but clearly Parkinson’s is for life and since mum has it I sadly know what to expect. Can anyone help as to whether I send in all the evidence and say I’d like the assessor to look at the mobility component. My dog work had to stop which destabilised my bipolar and I’m now back under a care plan with CMHS.
Thanks,
Alex

Hi Lipbalmaddict
You do not want to make a new claim, if your condition has deteriorated then you need to contact DWP and inform then of a change in your circumstances, if successful then your new claim will start from the date of your phone call.
Remember that you need to be affected 3 months before you apply (qualifying period) and ongoing for 9 months (prospective period), not all changes in circumstances will change your award, read our guides to help you with your claim; benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip

Hi gary,
Just read your post. I'm in process of doing that. I have phoned up capita, and asked for another date to be re-scheduled for my PIP review, which was due this week. Reason due to a recent new diagnosed illness, and i needed to get more supportive evidence to be passed onto to the DWP, prior to my PIP review.
The lady call handler said she would put me down as unavailable for 2 weeks ( due to needing time to gather more evidence etc).
Then when the 2 weeks are up, Capita will send me out another PIP phone call assessment. She did say this could be late in december.
I did get her to confirm that unavailable for 2 weeks meant that i was not cancelling my original appointment.
I have recorded the call/s to capita, one just can't trust these people as they lie, lie, and lie.
regards to all.
