UTC Joint but better off single was created by Charlie122
Hello fellow forum members.
I work away full time, different parts of the UK and hardly ever home.
Currently in a joint claim with the wife.
My wife works part time on minimum wage.
Would my wife be better off claiming single since I am only back on the weekends.
The majority of my time I am living elsewhere.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Charlie122
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
We cannot answer that question, that would be between you and your partner, one of the questions asked is where does your mail go?
I would contact your local Welfare Rights Organisation who can take all your circumstances into consideration before giving you an answer; advicelocal.uk

Just to add some context.
You are currently classed as a Couple and can therefore only make a joint claim for UC. The DWP can see you as single people, for example; a divorced couple that still live together, or a couple that live apart. however, the Decision ultimately falls to a DWP Decision to make.
