PIP Forms and Postal Strikes. was created by Rob1
Hi All,
I asked for a PIP review on the 15th of November as my Consultant and Support Worker agree my Mental and Physical health has worsened and is now greatly affecting day to day life.
I have written down on paper what i want to put on the form, gathered all evidence and supporting letters and information so I am ready to go.
The DWP sent out a review form on the 15th November and on the 22nd November I rang PIP outlining my worries about the Postal strikes so the chap I spoke to on the phone was very nice and said he would send out another form (22nd November) "just in case" he also extended the return date for the form by 2 weeks at my request.
To date, I have received nothing from them (in fact no other post of any kind either).
Obviously, my Anxiety is going through the roof as this is very frustrating. I have informed my MP of my problem and she has noted date(s) etc. I also have the first names of the people I spoke to.
I appreciate PIP are not at fault, as they can't help the strikes any more than I can, but my main concern is not being able to get my review form returned by the specified date. I think it unfair that potentially I could have my PIP claim (at worst) cancelled due to the strikes.
Any advice the forum can give for me to be able to "cover my back" would be gratefully appreciated.
Frustrated and Anxious.
Kindest regards,

Rob.

Hi Rob1

You have done everything that I would have suggested, if the form has not arrived by Friday I would contact DWP again just to let them know that you have not received either forms that have been sent out to you.

Keep your MP up to date as to what is happening.

Hi Rob1, I hope things are working out OK and you've received your form in the last day or two.

Gary, do you know if DWP are acknowledging that the postal service has issues at the moment? I sent my PIP AR1 back on Monday as it was due on Tuesday (6th). I sent it 'signed for' from a post office and when I checked the tracking details today it still hasn't been received and signed for at Wolverhampton. I didn't actually receive it until almost 10 days after the date on the letter that came with the form, and so had less than 3 weeks to complete it. Wrote extensive answers to all the questions that are relevant to my needs and the whole process was gruelling. So now I'm feeling a bit jittery because tomorrow is officially a Royal Mail strike day and at this rate it could be next week before my AR1 reaches them.

Hi pollenpath

I would contact the DWP first thing in the morning to let them know that you have sent the forms back by recorded delivery and give them the ref number, you may just want to check Royal mail web site to see if the forms have been delivered, when and who signed for them, if still pending let DWP know.

There is a massive backlog at the DWP end as well as postal strikes, so it is a double whammy, just what you need for Christmas with all the Christmas post.

Hi Pollenpath,
Thank you. If its any comfort my review form took nearly 3 weeks to reach me, at least you have proof of postage and I'm sure they'll receive yours in due course. Talking to someone at PIP the other day about my form I was told they are fully aware of the situation with delayed post, so hopefully the will be a little bit lenient with regard to dates (but I don't think anyone should regard that as a given) and always speak to them for an extension if needed.
Kind regards,
Rob.
