Not sure if this is in the right place but if not, Mods please move.
If my memory serves me correctly, there was a request in a previous B and W email newsletter for readers to ask their MPs whether the current government had plans to means test Disability Benefits. I contacted my MP and asked him to find out if any such means testing was in the pipeline. He wrote to the Minister for Disabled People, and received a message back which he then passed on to me.: The main body of the Minister's response is as follows:
"I can assure your constituent that we have no plans to means test disability benefits, such as DLA, PIP or AA. DLA, PIP and AA are intended to act as a contribution towards the extra costs that arise as a result of a health condition or disability, and have been non-means tested since they were introduced.
I can also confirm that there are no plans to introduce a means test to the qualifying conditions for Carer's Allowance".
So now we know. ;0)
