Declined Mobility component on PIP

We can't tell people whether to put in for an MR because we don't know you or your medical history, and we're not assessors.

If you are going to put in for an MR, you would be wise to ring the DWP and ask for a copy of the assessor's report (PA4). The report should help you understand why you were not given the mobility component. You have a month from the date on your award letter to put in for an MR. You should also look at our guide and see if you think you explained as thoroughly as you could about your asthma and its effects on you. You need to show that it impacts the majority of days. If you have to stop when walking, is this always the case? Why do you need to stop, is your balance affected, do you have to use your inhaler, do you have to walk more slowly, are you in danger of falling etc. You obviously know your condition, but don't assume the person reading it will - because often they don't. You also must make sure you refer to the specific PIP criteria. Does your asthma leave you with safety issues, reliability and repeating actions?

You may have done all these things. If you put in for an MR, there is always a danger they look at your whole award again and downgrade it. However, this doesn't happen very often. The far more likely outcome is that your MR will be rejected (most are) and you will have to put in for an appeal.
