PIP review - just need to vent was created by cynical_optimist
Hi all,
I just need to vent for a minute as my PIP review assessment is finally scheduled, 8 months after sending my form back.
It's a telephone assessment, which is less horrifying than an in-person assessment, but still making me anxious because I know it can be down to luck whether you get a good assessor or not (I've had bad assessments where the form is full of lies, and I've had good assessments where they actually got most stuff right, but in all cases I've been exactly the same because my issues are static!)
I hate that it's such an unreliable process, and our support is literally in the hands of people who we can't trust.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi cynical_optimist
Vent away. It's not surprising you're concerned. You are right - luck can play a vital part in the process. It's sad that it does as it should be a fair process.
Do make the time to read the Guide to PIP and reviews - so you can be as ready as you can for the telephone interview. If you want the assessment recorded - put in a request beforehand and you would be wise to do a covert recording for your own records.

Dear cynical_optimist, must endorse BIS's recommendations to ask them to record ASAP and do your own. Plus I would have a friend with you and tell the assessor that you have them there to support you. The dishonest are IMHO slightly less likely to get up to tricks in the hearing of a witness...Recording in our experience will not stop them lying later on the PA4 but at least you can then disprove them [We did].
Be sure to phone for the PA4 promptly 48 hours later. If it is rubbish, you can write very fast to 'The Decision Maker' at the DWP at last address they wrote to you from, setting out why the PA4 is wrong [stick to point-altering matters/things that demonstrate the report is 'not fit for purpose' if that is the case]. Important to act fast in case they do the decision before your letter gets scanned in, so send by the fastest post you can afford if you do write in.
All these actions help you stay in control of your case as far as possible, much more so than many people do. Knowledge all thanks to B&W!!
Best wishes,
Denby
