PIP renewal and blue badge status was created by Dippy2
Hi need to some advise my PIP is due for renewal 22/2/23 and l have blue badge for my limited mobility
I have ESA support group old style no migration to UC

I have had no contact from DWP regards new assessment

Should l contact DWP regarding assessment
in advance?
My condition is lifetime and deteriorating

I believe some people are getting extension for review ? Do you have to ask for one or do DWP do it

Also l believe a soft touch review is happening for some people but nothing clarified on sit

As l need my Blue badge which will stop on same day 22/02/23 if delays in reviewing my file does Blue badge get extended?

I have joined the site as l am the form filler for my disabled son and others in the family
Any advice or information appreciated
I am also waiting to see if PIP will be paid later this month and not a way of not paying Benefit prior to new year or beyond

Hi Dippy2,

If you won your last award via a tribunal then it is up to you to ask for a renewal form, this would probably be a brand new claim, so full size form.
If was awarded by DWP then you should have heard by now, so I would def contact them otherwise your money may stop in February.

I would suggest you call them a.s.a.p.

Good luck

Hi Dippy2

The DWP should be sending out letters to people telling them about extensions. As yours is due to run out in February and we have Christmas and New Year I would ring and ask what is happening.

Blue badges are provided by local authorities and they seem to have different rules. You will need to contact yours. Where I live you are advised to reapply at least three months before the blue badge is going to expire and they don't send out any reminders. You may find your authority won't allow you to renew it until you have a new PIP award.

The light touch reviews will be coming into place in 2023, but no one knows what that will mean yet, as no one has had one.

Some claimants who have reached state pension age and have been due for a review and already have an enhanced award have been given an ongoing award (ten years) without the need for an assessment.

My PIP was extended to May 2023, but they still sent our a form earlier this year (I won at Tribunal - Didn't need to ask for forms)
5 months on and I'm still waiting for a decision. My PIP is still being paid but my Blue Badge ran out in August. I applied through my council but couldn't use the automatic criteria as I had no PIP letter with end date. I'm still waiting to hear whether they will award me one or not. It's a nightmare.
Meanwhile I'm trying to get in and out my wheelchair in the paths of oncoming traffic.

Hello Dippy2

PIP Renewal or not, might it be worth contacting your ‘Issuing Authority’ (IA) and having a conversation explaining your situation? I cannot believe that given all of the issues and delays with the DWP, your local IA are unaware of the situation. Good luck Sue x
