Success: paper-based PIP review, but...

First of all, thank you to all at B&W, especially forum moderators, and fellow forum-posters - we all help to keep one another going.

I'm delighted to say that my friend with MH issues - for whom I advocate - has been awarded exactly what we asked & hoped for - more of the same, without the huge stress of having to speak to strangers. Even better, his award is for 4 years - longer than we'd imagined.

Such a result is always welcome, even more so at this time of year.

But

There is a 'weasel' paragraph at the foot of Page 1 (which also appeared in my award letter).
Is this now standard for the DWP?

"Unfortunately, we have paid you too much money. You will get a letter from us shortly to tell you more about this and to let you know if you need to pay any money back."

In his case - award continues - an overpayment seems unlikely at best.

In my case - higher award with consequent back-payment - an overpayment was surely impossible? (NB: I rang them about my award and a Case Manager said he didn't know why that phrase was included).

What are your thoughts, please?

Hi ivyfox

Congratulations on the award, your friend must be relieved and can now chill out for Christmas.

In regards to your question about the paragraph; "Unfortunately, we have paid you too much money. You will get a letter from us shortly to tell you more about this and to let you know if you need to pay any money back."

I do remember reading about this in the forum but cannot remember the reply, it is not something I have come across, it may be one of these catch all phrases as DWP have a massive backlog.

Forum members may have come across this phrase, it will be good to have their input.
