Is EESA paid in arrears? I reach pension age soon and received a message today saying my claim has now closed and I will receive my final payment the day before my birthday. Just need to know so I can check what I am due.

Hi Fiona

ESA is usually paid fortnightly in arrears.

You may be entitled to claim Guarantee Pension Credits; www.gov.uk/pension-credit when you retire.
