Hi netcoach1

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

I assume that you are talking about CB ESA or NS ESA, you can no longer claim CB ESA for new claimants.

NS ESA depends on your national Insurance contributions;

If you have paid for Class 2 NI Contributions then you may be able to claim New Style ESA

- If you have not or do not have sufficient NICs then it would be Universal Credit but your wife's income would be taken into account.

You can put your information into one of the online benefit calculators to see which will be best for you.

www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators

Is it worth making a claim? Only you can decide as we do not h,ave all the facts.
