PIP review extension was created by jasonh
Any tips or experience sharing would be appreciated :
PIP review dated 1st Dec received on 18th Dec.
Called the helpline specifically stating my request for an extension is due to a delay in receiving form. I t I will still need the extension that is normally given if difficulties in completing on time.
• I have ADHD/dyslexia so even with your great guides. Takes a long time when numerous conditions. It's medically acknowledged and takes a dyslexia person three times as long.
The advisor said they cannot be extended further I could just tick the ‘no change’ box for all the questions if no change.
• Thanks to fabulous B&W in know this advice is not correct!
• I sent email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. 11 Jan appealing. They have acknowledged receipt and I await the response
Thanks in advance

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi jasonh
In the past, you could ask for an extension, and the DWP would grant one - generally of two weeks, and that was it. More recently, I know of a number of people who have asked for and been granted two extensions and even a couple who have had three. However, they asked for the extensions one at a time and never mentioned they may need a second one. When they realised they needed another, they put in the request in plenty of time. There is an element of luck about who you get on the phone and some inconsistency about the length of time - which can be unfair.
The advisor was correct in saying that you can tick 'no change' in the boxes, and sometimes people do because they are not well enough to do anything else. We advise against that where possible because we think it could put a claimant at a disadvantage. However, it is far better to put in a form with just ticks or a form that is half-completed with a note saying you have run out of time than send in a form late. Sending forms back late can lead to a claim being cancelled.
I don't know when your form is due back, but if you are struggling to meet that deadline, I would ring asap and see if you get a different response. If you don't, you will have to send the form in and attach a note explaining - not only that you received it late, but due to your conditions, you have not had sufficient time to complete it as you would wish.
