ESA Medical Assessment was created by Natasha
Hi,
I have been claiming ESA since 2014 (with the help of this amazing site - thank you!). Following a medical assessment in March 2015 I was placed in the Support Group. In Apr 2017 I had a review and remained in the Support Group. In Feb 2019 I received another ESA50 review form to complete which I did and submitted within the required time frame. I was not called for a medical assessment and continued to receive my payments as normal as well as the usual annual letters informing me of the new rates for the Support Group.
However, on Wednesday last week (11 Jan) I received a phone call from the DWP medical assessment team to say they have been instructed to carry out a medical assessment on behalf of the DWP for my ESA claim - the medical assessment has been arranged for next week, 26 Jan. I informed the caller that I have not received any new ESA50 forms to fill out, to which the caller said the forms were filled in prior to the pandemic and they are only now catching up on medical reviews! Does this sound normal? My forms were filled out in Feb 2019, a full 12 months prior to the pandemic - are they now saying they were already 12 months behind carrying out reviews prior to the pandemic?
Obviously my condition has since worsened in the 4 years since I last submitted my form and I have recently been diagnosed with Young Onset Dementia too. Am I allowed to include this new information since I have not been given the opportunity to fill out new forms or will they only accept my old information from 4 years ago?
Any advice welcome. Many thanks. Natasha

I'm afraid they are entitled to use the ESA50 you completed in 2019.
My best advice would be for you to write a letter to the DWP and to ASOS explaining any changes there have been to your limitations in regard to the ESA Descriptors, stick to the same format as the ESA50, so Moving Around, etc.
Email the letter to ASOS and send a copy to the DWP office dealing with your claim and make sure yo confirm receipt at the beginning of the assessment.
