PIP assessment was created by Sally
I have just received my PIP assessment result and Despite suffering from long term severe depression, onset Osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, I was awarded 0 points for daily living! I do not cook meals because I forget to turn off the oven and spill boiling water from saucepans. My diet consists of snacks! But, because I said they were ”healthy” snacks and could “Slice” an orange this gave me a zero! I am limited to my personal hygiene due to my physical restrictions but because I told the assessor I wash from my hand basin I scored another zero! I won’t bore you with the other details of my claim because it is all bad news! These assessors are brutal, they have no empathy and are out to catch you out on the slightest thing that you give away. It’s quite disgusting that the DWP allow this treatment to claimants. I believe it is being contracted by Capita and they have just won the contract for a further 6 months! I have made a mandatory reconsideration but it is still in the DWP’s hands, they are hardly likely to change the decision because it will seem they are contradicting themselves. This is terribly stressful and very demeaning! Unbelievable! I would say to anyone in the initial stages of a PIP claim, be honest but don’t give anything that can be used against you! it really is a truly awful process!

Hi Sally
Did you get a copy of the Assessment Report (PA4) - so you could see more details of the decision? I hope you did and that you used it to compile your MR. If you're just eating snacks, you should have scored some points whether they are healthy or not.
