Can pip be changed ? was created by lilycat
Hi after months of dealing with dwp I was finally awarding standard pip payments. I also get ESA.
I have just had further tests done and I now have spinal stenosis, &degenerative disc disease, plus other issues. My question is do I notify them of my change in health, also due appts with gastro issues. So basically I'm out getting better. My health is getting worse. My partner thinks I should leave it and not ask them to re look at my claim. It was guaranteed for 4 years, so 3 years before it will be reviewed. Do I just leave it, or is it wise to contact them again? Thank you x

Hi lilycat,
If you notify DWP of changes in your health, it it likely that this will mean you will have to fill out another firm and may need to have a further assessment. That said, if you feel your health has deteriorated and you merit an enhanced award you will need to do this.
Remember that PIP is awarded on the basis of how you complete (or not) the various descriptor activities. You mention gastro issues in your post. So, for an example, unless that means you eg walk less far to fall within a different descriptor level, need help with toileting, or dressing that didn't exist before, simply having another health condition won't be sufficient.
If you already receive the maximum possible under the descriptor, or the maximum for your disabilities, you will not achieve any more points. So let's say you now need 2 aid/appliances to cook a meal instead of one this is still 2 points. Or, if you are currently on 8 points, but your worsening health gives you only 2 extra points, it still won't give you the 12 required for enhanced rate. There is no point applying if you can't achieve sufficient points.

I hope this helps.
