End date of open ended Pip award was created by Jane52
Dear Benefits and Work

Thanks to your information and support I was awarded an open ended PIP award in 2018. I think I get reassessed when I am age 67, currently age 63. I am trying to renew a cinema card where I can bring someone in as my carer. The organisation now want either a date within the last year on my PiP form or something that shows the end date. Would an end date e.g. when the DWP will make contact with me be in any of my letters as I cannot find it in my award.

Thank you for your help

Jane

Hi Jane52

Don't know why you need to show an end date, I would just show your letter informing you of your benefit up date that is usually sent out Jan/Feb time.

There may be an end date on your initial award letter. If you cannot find a date then contact DWP and ask them to send confirmation of your PIP award being open ended.

Hi Jane

If by "open ended" PIP award you mean you were awarded PIP "for an ongoing period" (as it says on my PIP award which coincidentally was also in 2018) then-by definition-there is no end date! I'm looking at my own award letter as I'm typing this and it says the DWP will contact me after a date in 2027 (as also with you I think) but that is not an end date. As Gary has said I would also suggest you send the most recent copy of a PIP award letter you currently have. I don't have a cinema card now myself - as I have no current use for it - but I vaguely recall it was called a CEA card. I wasn't on PIP at the time but was on DLA, in my case I doubt I had to show them a DLA letter as I'm registered partially sighted which is in itself a qualifying condition for the cinema card. In some cases - but I doubt the cinema card is one of them - the organisation offering the concession may ask to see your PIP "Statement of Entitlement", this shows the points you "scored" for the activities in the PIP test. In my case this Statement is shown on a double-sided sheet at the end of my initial PIP award letter. If you haven't got - or cant find - that statement I suggest you ask the DWP for another copy as it may be helpful in the future. Hope this helps and all goes well for the cinema card renewal. I have a visually impaired friend who has one of these cards.

Kind regards

Mr B

PS you can find detailed information about the CEA card, including renewal, required supporting proof etc at the following link and I see you can also now renew it online if you wish. Please click
