HI, if someone has a brain tumour that cannot be operated on and is terminal, surely they are entitled to benefits. SSP FROM Employer has expirred and now no income at all. Been told not entitled to any benefits due to having savings. Surely ESA is not means tested for `12 months & PIP not means tested at all. Has 2 daughters, on the final stage of both chemotherapy & radiotherapy & they are about to stop treatment as tumour not responding to treatment. its a matter of WHEN NOT IF THE DEATH OCCURS

PLEASE ADVISE WHAT BENEFITS ENTITLEMENT IS CORRECT & CAN THEY BE BACKDATED?????

Hi Dylanc

As I have said in the other post - your friend needs an advisor asap. Macmillan would be good because they can advise on everything www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-...fits-and-your-rights or a welfare advisor in his area. advicelocal.uk/

He will be entitled to benefits - they will be able to look at his circumstances and tell him how to fast-track his claims.

Hi DYLANC

Click on BIS's links, they will be able to help.

If your SSP ends;

You may be able to apply for Universal Credit or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). You can use form SSP1 to support your application.

If your SSP is ending your employer must send you form SSP1 either:

within 7 days of your SSP ending, if it ends unexpectedly while you’re still sick on or before the beginning of the 23rd week, if your SSP is expected to end before your sickness does; www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay/eligibility

Depending on your friend's NI contributions, they may be entitled to claim New Style ESA; www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-employment-and-support-allowance
