Renewal Claim Pack was created by Oscarab
Hi

I received my renewal pack in September 22 despite my award not ending until Aug 23 - it was a mess to begin with with one thing and another, but they received the completed forms mid October 22 - I have heard nothing from them at all and I chased them up this morning as others I know who have had renewals have received their outcome within 2 to 4 weeks.

I was put on hold for an eternity while they looked into it and I was told that it had to go to a Health Professional, and there is a huge backlog of these, which means it could be months and months before I get a decision, and if it was delayed passed the award end date of August 23, they would extend it for another 12 months!

Does this sound right??

Why would it have to go to a Health Professional and what does this mean?

Thanks

If they are our rights, why do we have to fight for them?

Hi Oscarab

Review forms can be sent out up to 11 months before the award end date - which is what happened to you.

The information you have been given is correct - there is a huge backlog -so unfortunately, although some people have had their forms turned over in quite a short time, the majority haven't, and some have been waiting more than a year - hence that they will extend the current end date if necessary.

If your form has gone to an HP, they will decide on what type of assessment you will be given (video, telephone, face-to-face or paper-based). Telephone is still the most common at the current time.

Hi - have now had my review over the phone with Capita - 90 minutes! I had to ask how long before we would be finished!!

I was not asked if I wanted it recorded.

I was asked about work too and things like reasonable adjustments and what job I did etc., is this normal and acceptable?

If they are our rights, why do we have to fight for them?

Hi Oscarab

I'm glad to hear that you have had your assessment. The claimant normally asks for an assessment to be recorded, not the other way around.

If you work and are claiming PIP, the assessor is allowed to ask questions about how you manage because that's all part of your daily living. That doesn't mean all the questions are reasonable!
