Renewal in November age 69 was created by Numi
Hello. I am on high rate. I have still got existing mental health and physical disabilities. This year I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. I am 69 and have a renewal in November. I am dreading to go through the anxiety of the way I was treated. Many lies told by the advisor. I got help and went to a tribunal and was awarded in the end.
I read some place that I would be awarded because I started my claim before pension age 66. Please can you give me advise. Many thanks.

Hi Numi

I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience last time. Unless you were given an ongoing award (which I assume you weren't) you should be sent out a review form. However, because your decision was made by a Tribunal, you may find you have to apply again. (This has happened to some of our members). If you have not heard from the DWP by the end of July 2023, I would contact them to find out what is happening. You don't want your money to stop suddenly.

Thank you for your reply. I asked DWP to send me
a copy of my award as I lost original paperwork in July 2022. This letter shows the start date and end date. I cannot see end date. However at the end of the statement it says award from November 2018 for an ongoing period, does 5his mean I won't go through the hell time again. I am of the mind that I read something that said review November 2023. I looked at my award letter and it does say that my award from 2018 for an ongoing period. I did have more paperwork that I can't find. Then I got a statement I'm thinking maybe Iv lost a page. I have page 1 of 2 and page 2of 2. Can you tell me if I have pages missing.
I get confused with things due to my mental health.
Please can you advise me if I can call them for my paperwork again as my memory fails.
Finally a friend said I should not have to apply again due to my age 69 this year. Can you check your award online? I have melt down calling them.
Thank you for all your encouragement, it really helps so many.

Hi Numi

If you have a letter stating that you were awarded PIP for an ongoing period in 2018, you should not be reviewed until 2028. An 'ongoing period' means ten years.

Although the DWP has the right to look at any claimant's claim when they want to, you would not expect your case to be looked at for another five years. As it stands, you should receive a review form in 2028.

If you want clarification, you can only ring the DWP and ask for a copy of your records. They are not available to view online.

Hi Bis,

So if your 65 years of age now, and your pip review lets say from last december 2022 is awarded again, but as ongoing. Then that means that claimant would be 78 yrs of age and still eligible for PIP?

So if the claimant gets another pip form to fill in , he/ she could continue to get pip til the day they die, is that correct?

I thought once you reached 65/ 66 then it's game over for receiving pip benefits.

regards.

Hi Mr Fibro

A claimant cannot apply for PIP for the first time after the state pension age.

A current PIP claimant with a standard mobility or no mobility award cannot have their PIP mobility upgraded after they reach state pension age.

Current claimants with a PIP award can continue after the state pension age providing they meet the criteria.
