Hi, New member would appreciate any help with query.
When increase in mobility occurs does this go straight to your motability car?

Hi Jachaz68
The amount of PIP sent to Motability depends upon your choice of car - so that sum of money is already fixed.

Hi Bis,
If I may.......
If you (or another mod) could clarify something for me please.
I`m waiting for my car to be delivered (Mid Feb is the latest), I`ve chosen a Ford Kuga which will use all my mobility payment with quite a hefty advance payment.
From your comment, and my apologies if I`ve misunderstood you, because I`ve agreed with Motability a fixed monthly payment then the extra £26.08 increase on a 4 weekly period won`t go to Motability?
I`d assumed that the extra would go to Motability because they, for my vehicle at least, quote "total mobility allowance". Would this not cover the increase in April too?
If it is taken by Motability, I`ve not lost anything. If it isn`t, it will help towards petrol
Thank you,
Andy

Hi, I think jachaz68 may have meant the annual small percentage increment in PIP or DLA mobility element. As far as I know if you have a Motability car, which you get by signing over your regular benefit payment to Motability, they get the increment along with the existing weekly/monthly sum.
Just by the way, Motability itself is not a charity but a business, although it has a charity alongside which helps with eg high cost of WAVs [Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles]. And the business model depends on the resale value they get at the end of your lease. This is why, as we found out from an informative dealer when considering our next car on the scheme, they often charge extra for plain paint colours. That might seem counter intuitive, but is because the metallic ones sell for more when you hand them back. Another dealer tipped us off that if you are happy with the car you have had for nearly 3 years, try pleading with M for an extension. Getting the car for up to 5 years makes much better value out of the down payment - which as BIS says, varies according to choice of car. If you can manage with a tiny car there may be some for zero advance. It's all here

Hope this helps,

Hi Andrew
As far as I am aware any increase goes to the motability scheme, click on Denby's link for more information.
