I just need brief answers to these specific questions relating to my ‘old style’ CB-ESA (support group) eligibility and the associated regulations please.

I’m sure other people are as confused as I am so hopefully your answers will help many others too as there is confusion regarding the different types of ESA.

In my case I’m particularly confused as the whether the DWP are only interested in MY affairs under the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA, or if they are interested in ‘household affairs’ (ie. including my husband) because so many of their letters/online information are generalised and ambiguous.
So, my questions are (yes/no answers will suffice in most cases):

1) Does my husband’s STATE PENSION affect/reduce my entitlement ‘old style’ contribution based ESA?
2) Do my husband’s PRIVATE PENSIONS (or his savings) affect/reduce my entitlement for ‘old style’ CONTRIBUTION BASED ESA? (We live in the same household).
3) Do I need to tell the DWP anything at all about my husband’s financial status in respect of my claim for the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA?
4) Is there a limit to how much savings I am entitled to have under the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA?
5) I have two, small ‘ill health early retirement’ occupational pensions from previous employers. The DWP know about these and have adjusted my entitlement to the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA accordingly. But do they need to know about any lump sum payments I received at the time of my ill health early retirement?
5) Can I do voluntary work under the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA?
6) What specific ‘changes’ do I need to tell the DWP about under the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA rules - and could you clarify if the obligation to notify them only relates to ME, or if I need to tell them about changes to my husband’s position seeing as we are in the same household?
Thank you so much.

Hi Margole

I answered your previous post; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/kunena/10-dla-...y-entitlement#276792

Some of your questions below are not a yes or no answer. You have 2 number 5 questions.

1) Does my husband’s STATE PENSION affect/reduce my entitlement ‘old style’ contribution based ESA? NO

2) Do my husband’s PRIVATE PENSIONS (or his savings) affect/reduce my entitlement for ‘old style’ CONTRIBUTION BASED ESA? (We live in the same household). No

3) Do I need to tell the DWP anything at all about my husband’s financial status in respect of my claim for the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA? NO

4) Is there a limit to how much savings I am entitled to have under the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA? NO

5) I have two, small ‘ill health early retirement’ occupational pensions from previous employers. The DWP know about these and have adjusted my entitlement to the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA accordingly. But do they need to know about any lump sum payments I received at the time of my ill health early retirement? see www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/kunena/10-dla-...y-entitlement#276792

6) Can I do voluntary work under the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA? Yes, but seek advice first www.gov.uk/government/publications/emplo...itted-work-factsheet

7) What specific ‘changes’ do I need to tell the DWP about under the ‘old style’ contribution based ESA rules - and could you clarify if the obligation to notify them only relates to ME, or if I need to tell them about changes to my husband’s position seeing as we are in the same household? see www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/kunena/10-dla-...y-entitlement#276792

You may want to seek advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation who can take all your circumstances into consideration; advicelocal.uk
